The Bear River Bruins traveled to Colfax for a rivalry varsity high school baseball game on Thursday afternoon. Even though the the visiting team is out of the playoff picture, nothing would make their faithful happier than to keep the Falcons behind the fence during the post season as well. The story is here.
Jake Jarman leads the the Bruins in hitting with an overall batting average of .459, 17 hits and an on base percentage of .583. Senior short stop Trevor Mcghee leads the team in extra base hits with five and senior first baseman James Harris leads the team with three home runs, followed by Jarman with two. Senior outfielder Josh Toft is hitting .312 and leads the Bruins with 13 runs scored as well as in stolen bases with 10, while being caught only once.
The Bruins (10-12 overall, 5-8 league) will host Truckee High School (23-5) today at 3:30 and then will look to continue to play Pioneer Valley League spoiler on May 8 and 10 when they travel to Center High School. The Cougars could possibly slide into the second and final P.V.L. playoff spot if they were to win their remaining two league games against the Bruins.
