RODRIGUES COMES UP BIG FOR BR GIANTS

The Bear River Giants found themselves looking at the left field scoreboard in the fourth frame feeling a little uneasy. The score was tied 5-5 with Sierra Foothill Angels' runners on first and third with Tyler Cross on the mound. Cross delivered strike after strike to the visiting team when he gave up consecutive hits including a double off the left field fence, allowing three runs to score. The Angels failed to score in the fifth as Megan McShane cut off their momentum. The Giants sent Tyler Rodrigues to the plate to lead off the bottom of the inning where he was hit by the pitch, Trey Jarman proceeded to drive a fast ball off the left field fence. Jake Rogers knotted the score at 8-8 when he hit the ball off the center field wall. The inning ended and McShane closed for the Giants in the top of the sixth allowing no Angel runs. The Giants who could not afford to drop another game sent Cross to the plate as it's lead-off batter with three outs to play, who walked. Bear River right fielder Liam Hayes hit the ball into the gap for a double and McShane walked to load the bases. Rodrigues proceeded to drive the ball in to left field for a single which drove home Cross for the Giants 9-8 win.

The stage is set for a rematch of the Bear River Dodgers and Giants on Saturday at 7, who on April 9th played out a 10 inning game where the Dodgers won 3-2. The Giants are one game back in the playoff race and disparately need the win. But the Giants may be in the drivers seat as the Dodgers have yet to play the Bear River Angels (8-1) for a second time.
