I have been a longtime fan of all things Manny Ramirez who has 555 home runs. That accomplishment lands him at 14th overall in the lifetime home run race. I'm not a big fan of the Steroid Era and all the cheating that transpired within that time frame, but I have to say he is one entertaining player. He started the trend of wearing long baseball pants and dreads that many urban kids have gravitated to. He is certainly not a role model by any stretch of the word, but he is one heck of a hitter that fits in line with the Oakland Raiders fan base, than in the state's capitol. He will attract a certain type of crowd to Railey Field this Friday night when he makes his debut for the River Cats, after being away for 50 games. He was away from baseball due to his second illegal substance violation. Sacramento, is this really the type of crowd you want filling your seats? The men of the silver and black play football, a smash'em and bash'em game, not a boys of summer gentlemen kind of affair. I do wish Manny a quick exit back to the Bigs in Oakland as his bat does not fit in Sacramento, neither does his fan base.
Balco is just a hop, skip and a jump away, you know what they say in baseball, stick a needle in your butt three times and you're out. Good Luck Manny!
