BEAR RIVER LITTLE LEAGUE 5/9/12

MAJORS

Athletics

The Bear River A's traveled to Condon Park on Wednesday where they took on the Grass Valley Angels and won 6-5. BR scored two in the fifth and added three more in the sixth in the win . The A's trailed 4-1 in the fourth. A Bear River coach stated, rhe player of the game was Jakob Berger due to his two RBIs in the sixth which gave his team the lead. The table was set in the sixth by Nathan Van Patten, Jackson Blashford, Peyton McGovern and Jacob Rivett who got hits to give their team a chance. Jacob Anderson started for the visitors throwing two and one third, Rivett threw for one third, Trevor Henning pitched three and one third  and earned the win for manager Dave Aldrich. The A's were led at the plate by McGovern who went two for three including a double and an RBI, Caleb Edwards also went two for three with a double and an RBI.

On Tuesday night the Bear River A's sent their right handed ten year old starting pitcher, Nathan Van Patten to the mound in the 23-0 win over the Sierra Foothill Nationals. Van Patten went two and a third to record the win in the mercy rule game. The team's coach stated "from top to bottom out lineup hit."

Giants

The BR Giants hosted the Nevada City Angels and won 11-1 in inter-league action. Clay Corripo started on the hill for the home team going three while giving up one run. Justin Kilgore closed out the final two innings. The Giants were led by Liam Hayes at the plate with two hits while Reid Zoldan, Cameron Kodai, Corripo, Jake Rogers and Kilgore also had hits. Logan Jenkins was hit by a pitch to the head twice and walked once. Reports are Jenkins is fine.

MINORS

The Bear River Cardinals fell to the the Sierra Foothill  A's 7-5. The Cards had their momentum cut short when a runner was called out at home in the third inning and then the Cards left runners at second and third in the fourth and final inning, due to the hard stop. Brennan Schad started for Bear River followed by Caleb Hurst who was relieved after 40 pitches by Adam Malik who closed the game. Sierra Foothill opened the game up with a bases loaded triple by their catcher and BR did not get the runs back. Leading the Cardinals at the plate were Cole Winters and Schad.
