HURST LEADS BEAR RIVER CARDINALS

Cardinal's winning pitcher Caleb Hurst
The Bear River Cardinals traveled to Applegate Ball Fields for a contest Thursday evening against Sierra Foothill Brewers and returned home with a 9 -2 win in a five inning . Sydny Bishop started on the mount for the visitors. Caleb Hurst came in relief striking out five of the six batters he faced to earn the win. Adam Malik pitched the final two frames also striking out five to finish the game for Cardinals manager Ralph Hurst. Bear River broke the game open in the second with the Cardinals hitting the 5 run rule with bases loaded. Caleb Hurst went three for three and Zachary Hurst hit a bomb RBI double, but was caught trying to stretch it for a triple for the Cards. Luke Barrieau and Jacob Ayestaran hit singles and Malik stole home twice while no one was looking. The season started slow for the Cardinals, but it looks as if it's manager's plan is beginning to playoff.
