BEAR RIVER LITTLE LEAGUE 5/12/12

MAJORS

Angels

The White Sox of Penn Valley Little League traveled to Bear River on Saturday afternoon to play baseball against the Angels. BR started with Jake Leonard on the mound who earned the win, ending with a final score of 7-0. In the bottom of the first inning Ryan Solomon hit a two out double to center field and Scott Sandstedt followed up with a home run also to center to take a 2~0 lead. Also pitching for the the Angels in the win were Sandstedt, Dean Hopper and Solomon. All four BR pitchers combined in throwing 65 pitches through six innings. Leading hitters for the Angels were Leonard who hit into a fielders choice, but did get an RBI, Solomon also hit a triple, Sandstedt in addition to his HR, hit a single off the center filed fence that was inches from going out. Owen Dalbon hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to move the score to 4~0, Porter Elliott also hit an RBI single and Leonard's two RBI double capped off the scoring in the bottom of the fifth for the home team to end the contest with a final score of 7-0.  


The Angels (11-1) host the Sierra Foothill Giants (7-5) Monday at 7.


Athletics/Giants

The Bear River Athletics hosted the BR Giants in a rematch game that went the way of pitcher Clay Corippo who threw a two hitter and a couple of home runs as the Giants won by a score of  7-0. Corippo threw 56 pitches in the win. The TOC implications are here. Trevor Hennig started for the Athletics where he gave up six Giants runs and Jacob Anderson relieved for the A's for the remaining three innings giving up one run in the loss. Justin Kilgore (3 HR on the season) and Jake Rogers (1 HR on the season) hit home runs  for the Giants while Logan Jenkins, Reid Zoldan and Corripo hit safely for the in their win over the Athletics. The two A's hits came off the bats of Peyton McGovern who went one for two while Caleb Edwards went one for one against the Giants Ace in the loss.


The Athletics will be back in action on Wednesday against the Bear River Angels and the Giants will travel to Penn Valley and take on the White Sox also on Wednesday both games are at 7.

MINORS

The Bear River Yankees battled with the BR Tigers on Saturday morning and by the time the sun got high in the sky the Yankees won 5-2 in 6 innings. Brekyn Vasquez Stared for the Yankees going three innings and gave up two runs while Colby Lundsford started for the Tigers going one and two thirds also giving up two. Braden Fowler relieved for the Vasquez pitching one and one third with three strike outs and giving up no runs. Colton Jenkins finished the game for the Yankees striking out  the last two batters of the contest. Blaynne Rogers made two great inning ending plays at second base as well as she hit a single driving home a run. Fowler broke the game open with a two RBI double with the bases loaded in the fourth to move the score to 5-2. Also leading the way at the plate for the Yankees were Jenkins, Vasquez, Weston Prosser, Damian Christen and Ryan Olsen who also hit safely. All four Tiger pitchers pitched well including Anthony Vierra who threw smoke in the fifth giving up no runs. "It was very fun game," said a Yankee coach. "The game did not have many errors and all the runs were earned by both teams with hits and good base running."

The Bear River Royals host the BR Yankees on Monday at 4:45. The two teams sit tied in their division with only one loss apiece.
