Magnolia's 7th grade girls basketball team completed its undefeated season on Saturday with a 29-11 victory in the end of year tournament at Nevada Union. The team was 12-0 during league play, and won in both the semi-final and championship game in the tournament, bringing their overall record to 14-0 on the year.
"This team's commitment to play hard-nosed, team defense is what separated them from the rest of the league," Coach Jason Bohrer said. "Offensively, they are unselfish with the ball and bought into a style of play that resulted in assists on nearly every basket.
Mallory Borrego, Chandler Fralick, Katelyn Meylor, and Kayla Toft exhibited exceptional guard play during the season and in the tournament.
In addition, Bella Batula, Taylor Borges, Camlyn Carpio, and Annie Kollehner's play at the wing was stalwart on defense and led to a number of points on offense.
Finally, Kaylee Bohrer, Celeste Card, Karinne McDonald, and Mallory Rath were dominant forces in the paint, gathering up nearly every rebound at both the offensive and defensive ends of the court.
