Tax on Ballot for Pleasant Ridge School District
Pleasant Ridge School District is preparing to ask registered voters in the south county to approve a temporary special tax for schools which will appear as Measure K on the November 6th ballot. Britta Skavdahl is the Superintendent of the district which includes 1,400 students at Cottage Hill and Alta Sierra Elementary, and Magnolia Intermediate schools. She says the district has made $2 million dollars in reductions over the last couple of years but there is no more room to cut.

Skavdahl says the special tax is needed to keep class size small and programs like music, band, arts, and sports, that enriches and help students. she says Measure K funds will spell out limits on how funds can be spent.

Measure K will require a two thirds vote for passage. If approved the $92 per year special tax would remain in effect for 5 years .
