NEVADA COUNTY BASS FISHING

Have you ever wondered how to tell the difference between the types of bass that are caught out of our local lakes? I have compiled photos and a video which will help you decipher the differences.

Bullards Bar video

This unconfirmed World record Largemouth bass weighed 25 pounds, 1 ounce.

This is the world record Spotted bass weighed 10.48 pounds

As you can see the Largemouth bass is a much larger species that the spotted bass. Both world record fish were caught pre-spawn which is between January and April. While Bullards Bar does have all three types of bass a fisherman will catch more Spots that the other two. Locally Lake Clementine is a great Smallmouth fishery where Folsom is better for larger Largemouth bass.

But if you want to catch a a bunch on real nice bass without much trouble, find a pond. I have often caught better fish in small ponds than larger lakes.
