The 21st Annual Gold Country Duck Race in Deer Creek, Downtown Nevada City, is scheduled for September 9th at 2:30. The starting line is just up river from the ERA Real Estate office located at the bottom of Broad St.
It is said there will be as many as 10,000 rubber ducks in four different heats which will run the rapids of Deer Creek. The top 50 ducks qualify to run in the final heat, with a grand prize of $5,000 awarded to one lucky rubber ducky who wins the race. Each duck race entry ticket has a number that corresponds to a number on one of the rubber ducks. In addition to the races, there will be kid's games, music Najera and food for sale. The race is presented by the 49er Breakfast Rotary of Nevada City. As their largest annual fundraiser, raising nearly $40,000.
