NEVADA COUNTY AUTHOR - WATERMAN - RELEASE DARK APPLICATION

Nevada County resident and author Lindsey Waterman and writing partner Brian Krogstad
are releasing their first in the trilogy titled Dark Application on Dec 14, 2012. The authors are offering the download for free here.

"We're actually running a promo on Amazon.com so the book can be downloaded free, versus $3.99 today (Dec.14 2012) through Sunday." Krogstad said.

The early word from the reviewer is very positive.

"I'm super stoked on my reviews I've been getting!!" Waterman said. "I have a network producer interested in making a television series out of it."

Waterman's biggest influence as a writer was by far Stephen King. She read her first Stephen King novel when she was eight years old and a few of her favorites are The Stand, The Tommyknockers and Pet Cemetery.

"Thanks Stephen King, for being the ultimate mentor." said Waterman. "Now there is a writer who knows how to take risks."

Waterman was a longtime resident in Nevada county with many family members still residing here.
"I was born in the Sierra Nevada Memorial hospital (and my daughter and brother were born in the same room). I went from k-12th (Deer Creek, Alta Sierra School, Union Hill, Scotten elementary, Lyman Gilmore and Sierra Mountain where I graduated) grade there, then joined the army and moved away for a few years. Then I came back to GV and got my AA at Sierra College, transferred to UC Davis, and then since my daughter has already started school here and we love Davis so much, I stayed here. I was originally Lindsey Campbell." Waterman stated.

The Authors' synopsis of The Dark Application Series, It was written with social media, mobile application, and interactive media users in mind. The series’ concept was initially developed to be presented as a television series. During the creative process, the decision was made to release the first episodes of the series in electronic format.

We chose to release a Kindle version prior to presenting the concept to the networks in order to solicit reader feedback, character refinements, and plot suggestions.

The first book has all the elements of a traditional fiction piece; it’s suspenseful, full of laughs yet mysterious, includes the college party of the year, a few laws are broken and tough agents do a little cloak and dagger to find the culprit, some people die a horrific death and the financially struggling nerdy student comes into money and gets the girl of his dreams. The primary thing that sets this book, and series, apart from traditional books is that each of the aforementioned pieces of the book are driven by, or related to, social media, mobile applications or virtual interaction, and the series continuation is tied to the viral aspects of those drivers.

In Dark Application: ONE, Luke Jeffers is a student at Brafferton Community College in Fort Christanna, Virginia. Like any other college guy, he dreams about Amy, his grade-school crush, and finds time to party on the weekends while struggling to make his meager budget pay his bills. But unlike anyone else, Luke has discovered the secret Department of Defense Application for Remote Kinetics that unlocks a whirlwind of shocking events, and changes Luke’s life direction forever.

While working as an intern at a Computer Information Systems research facility, Luke secretly downloads games from the main server onto his smart phone. Unbeknownst to him, Dark Application is also installed on his phone. And once Dark Application is installed on a phone, it can never be removed. Suddenly Luke’s life takes on utterly unpredicted changes; he passes his first Chemistry exam, he mysteriously acquires a large sum of money, and he finally gets the girl of his dreams go out with him on Valentine’s Day. Slowly the application sucks him in, and he becomes addicted and unable to put it down. But lurking just around the corner are horrific secrets that land Luke in a world of hurt, and he becomes entangled in a web of murder, lies, and criminal activities that shock the town and lead to his ultimate destruction. Dark Application: Book One is the technological thriller of the iPhone era that will lead into the next book of the series in the Dark Application Series.
