Round two action on Friday at Bear River High School's Freshman tournament had a surprise, a competitive game, a game which looked like a blowout after three quaters which turned into a thriller and a very one sided contest.
The surprise game was between Bear River and Golden Sierra in the consolation bracket as Golden Sierra High School did not have school so the team could not play therefore the Lady Bruins picked up the win. Bear River scrimmaged themeselves in the 3:30 time slot. Video below.
The competitive game was between Pioneer Valley foes, Colfax and Placer High School. Colfax's superior guard play used its speed en-route to a 31-28 victory over the more dominate team in the paint. Placer was able to control the boards but failed to get back on defense which gave the Lady Falcons easy layups. With the loss Placer will play Golden Sierra at 9 a, and with the win Colfax will play Bear River at 10:30 in the consolation bracket final.
The Lady Miners ripped out 32~18 lead over Ponderosa at the end of 3rd using a 1-3-1 zone press in the full court but they committed a lot of fouls which stopped the clock and sent Ponderosa to the foul line. Ponderosa closed the gap and had a chance to win the game but they missed 8 consecutive shots from the charity stripe with less than 2 minutes to play in the game. The Miners held on to a 38~34 victory.

In the night cap it was Oak Ridge blowing out Roseville. Roseville made their first basket with just over 6 minutes to play in the first half as Oak Ridge deployed its full court press which led to many turnovers that led to easy buckets. With the loss Roseville will take on Ponderosa on Saturday at noon and with the win Oak Ridge will take on Nevada Union at 1:30 in the Championship game.
