GIRLS BASKETBALL RESULTS - BEAR RIVER - PLACER - COACH G TOURNAMENT

The Coach "G" tournament has gone as many would have thought. Bear River (10-0)  will take on Placer (10-1) in the final at 5:30 on Saturday at Earl Crabb Gymnasium on the campus of Placer High School.

Bear River dropped Del Campo for the second time in less than two weeks by a score of 46-31. Teryn Rath carried the team on her back at the defensive end of the court while banging with Del Campo's 6-foot-4 inch post player who has been averaging a double-double.
Final score - time was set for between games

The game started out very sluggish as the Bruins were without their outside shooter Savannah Welz so Del Campo packed their defense into the paint which took their top two scorers out of the game as they are post players. Bear River guards were forced to shoot from out side. Which resulted in little success with a first quarter score of 6 to 6.

With Welz out due to injury and Rath and top scorer Kaitlyn Reina having to shoot over a girl who is 7 inches taller, the Bruins struggled to score in the paint as well. Bear River did hold a 17~15 lead at the half. Del Campo maintained a 2~3 zone while BR played man to man.
With the win the Bruins will play for the Championship on Saturday.

Placer on the other hand came out smoking hot in the 8 p.m. semi-final game versus Rio Americano. They used a deep bench of nine girls while administering a 2-2-1 zone press which resulted in many easy looks at the rim and a 19-6 score at the end of the first quarter.

The Hilgals kept the heat on as they moved the score to a 35-12 lead with 2 min to play in the second quarter and I walked out of the gym. So my best guess is it will be Bear River versus Placer at 5:30.

This Placer team can press, shoot the 3 as well as finish at the rim in transition. Look out PVL!
