GIVING THANKS ON THE BANK - TRUCKEE

While it has been raining and snowing in the Sierra over the past few days the precipitation has created a fishing opportunity. When the water rises the fish become active.

I'm contemplating the lower Yuba for steelhead or heading to the Truckee for a real trout adventure. The weather looks as if it will clear on Thanksgiving but that is a day which will be filled with friends, family, food and football so I need to find another day.

Friday on the other hand looks to be open at this point and the weather looks as if it will also be 56 and a lower chance of precipitation so the Truckee better look out.

When it snows at the higher elevation the river's water level drops which creates a very good fishing opportunity that is if you can get there. From Lake Tahoe to the Nevada state line should fish very well. The fish have not had many opportunities to eat over the past few days so as the sun hits the water and it warms, the fish will begin to feed.

So this Friday from 10:30 to 2:30 I will be knee deep in snow at an elevation of 7,000 feet giving thanks for the opportunities the wonderful Sierras have to offer.

If you have family members who will be joining you for Turkey day and they like to adventure outside and fish. Make a plan to enjoy your time with them as well get outside and play.
