In the 2011/12 season the Miners went 16-12 overall and finished in second place at 6-4 in the tough Sierra Foothill League which was good for a playoff bid. NU did fall in that game to Jesuit.
Key returners
Davis led team in scoring in 2011 and he will need to carry the offensive load in his senior season.
Gardner is an all around player who can ball handle, score, rebound and defended many positions. In order for the Miners to get back to the playoffs Gardner will need to earn a double-double every game.
Voljak still only a junior has been working hard on his game in the off season so he should be counted on to play a larger roll for NU. He has some big shoes to fill as the team lost it's top two re-bounders do to graduation.
The Miners will most likely be one of the smaller teams in SFL so this season should be a fun season to watch if you like full court pressure accompanied with run and gun.
NU's first game is Nov. 26 versus El Dorado at Nevada Union with the varsity game at 7 p.m.
