NEVADA UNION - BEAR RIVER - SEASON TIP-OFF TONIGHT 2012

Basketball season begins tonight in Nevada County when both Nevada Union and Bear River's boys and girls varsity teams tip-off in their 2012 foundation games.

The Bruin boys and girls team will host Dixon High School with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. with the boys scheduled to take the floor at 7:30.

The Lady Bruins will most-likely start the season a little slow as a few of their starters have had little to no practice time due to their involvement on the school's Section championship volleyball team. The Bear River volleyball team completed their season on Saturday as they fell 3-1 to Sacred Heart in the State semi-final Division IV Tournament.

NU

Nevada Union will take to the hardwood at Ali Gymnasium tonight with the girls game being scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30. The Miners take on El Dorado which will begin their winter sports season.

There has been some buzz swirling around the Lady Miner's team as they played and won a few summer league tournaments this past summer. The team lists three girls who are 5'11" so they should be able to battle in the paint which has not been a strong suit for the team over the past couple of years.

The NU boys team fell to the school's star-laden Alumni team this past week but their guard play should keep them in most contests.
