NEVADA UNION FOOTBALL AT PLEASANT GROVE 2012

Nevada Union Jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on Friday night at Sheldon High School over Pleasant Grove High School but in the closing minutes of the game they could not get the needed stop falling 29-28.

PG trailed by one with 1:27 on the game clock after scoring a touchdown and they elected to go for the two point conversion, which they did get. They ran a play action fake an passed the ball to the man who was sent into motion and converted the pass to to take their first lead of the game.

Pleasant Grove   0    14   0   15        29
Nevada Union    14  0     7     7        28

The Miners (2-1) did have a chance to win the game in the closing seconds with a 30 plus yard field goal. But NU  a missed block by their front line gave way to the surging defense and the kick was halted and fell to the ground.

Nevada Union's running back/ linebacker Tanner Vallejo was the Touchdown Productions Player of the game who compiled 98 yards rushing and a TD on 9 carries as well as 17 tackles on defense. I spoke to Vallejo after the game and while he knew he had his best game of the season he stated they (PG) wanted it more than we did. The Boise State head football coach Chris Petereson was at the game. Vallejo will play for Peterson next fall.

In the post game meeting NU coach Dave Humphers stated more than a few times, this was a great game, you have nothing to hang your head for that was a great football team.

The Miner's will host Chico on Friday.

  1. Would have gone but was made unwelcome on the field with my camera last week. Away games coincide nicely with dinner with daughter in Sacramento. Could use mediated meeting with Mike Blake.
