The first Pioneer Valley League Cross Country Meet is in the books and it was a great contest by all the PVL teams.  Mary Nattrass from Bear River High School blew the varsity girls field away with an impressive race to finish the 3.15 mile course in first place with a time of 20:06.  The next closest runner was 20:51.

The Lady Bruins also had great races from Sierra Mitchell, 5th place with a time of 21:35 and Kimmy Pugel, 6th place with a time of 21:41.  Overall Bear River finished second in the varsity girls division being slightly edged out by Placer.

The freshman / sophomore race was a surprise as the Lady Bruins tied the Lady Hillman for 1st Place with strong performances by Taylor Autrey who finished the 2.15 mile course in 2nd place with a time of 17:07 and Olivia Kirks finishing 3rd in 17:10.

Alex Coffman
The Bear River varsity boys were excited to see their top runner back in action recovering from injury.  Alex Coffman raced his first meet of the season and did not disappoint placing 5th overall and covering the 3.15 mile course in a time of 17:02.

The Bruins also had an impressive performance from their freshman newcomer Dakota Cornejo who finished 17th in a time of 19:28.  Overall Bear River had a strong performance at the first PVL and look forward to the rematch at PVL #2 at Colfax High School on October 10th.
