The London 2012 Olympics kicks off in a few hours from now.

If you're not able to catch the action live on the television, then you may want to check out the apps that are available for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store to keep up-to-date with the latest action live across the sports events over the next two weeks.

NBC Olympics Live Extra:

NBC will be broadcasting the London 2012 Olympics live in the U.S. and they've releasedNBC Olympics Live Extra app for iPhone and iPad that allows subscribers to watch the coverage live on their iPhone or iPad.

The app also allows you to set reminders for the live events so that you won’t miss out on them. The video content is only accessible in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories.

In addition to NBC Olympics Live Extra app, NBC has also released an app called NBC Olympics, which will serve up highlights, real-time results, schedules, medal counts, and "second screen experience" like trivia and Olympics-specific social media feeds.
