FAIRFIELD WINS AREA 1 TITLE - AUBURN POST 84 HOST

The Fairfield Expos used solid pitching, good defense and great hitting to defeat Red Bluff in the Area 1 American Legion championship game in Auburn at Jame's Field on Sunday afternoon.

The game called at the end of the top of the seventh inning in the scheduled nine inning contest, with the score 15-3 due to the mercy rule.

The Expos will take to the field in the State tournament which will be held in Yountville.

Fairfield had 15 runs on 18 hit and committed one error while holding Red Bluff to six hit, two of which were home runs, including a towering shot to left field. Red Bluff's catcher drove a high fast ball that must have flown 400 feet. It cleared the flag pole by 30 feet. They also committed two errors in the loss.

It was 103 degrees at game time in Auburn.
