DAL BON MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

In 2000 Brad Dal Bon's mom Marrilee died from complications from pancreatic cancer.  In 2008 he lost his father Jim also from complications from pancreatic cancer.

So Brad is putting up a fight.  In 2009 he and family members started the Dal Bon Memorial golf tournament.  Click here to sign up for the fourth Annual DB Golf Tournament which will be held on August 11 at the Ridge in Auburn.

In 2008, after my father died, we held his memorial at the Turkey Creek Golf Course in Lincoln, CA. Family and friends played an informal round of golf the morning of the memorial. I am not sure if other people thought of holding a yearly event, but the idea instantly came to my mind.

In 2009 the first Dal Bon Memorial was held at the Alta Sierra Country Club in Grass Valley, CA. The event drew 62 golfers, a ton of sponsors, and a great crew of volunteers. The first tournament received glowing reviews from Alta Sierra staff. “One of the best first year tournaments we have ever seen”. Great start! Money earned for the Hirshberg Foundation totaled $8,000

In 2010 the 2nd Dal Bon Memorial lifted off with the most hole sponsorship to date. Almost all 18 holes were sponsored. The golfer number was up to 68. The ball drop contest drew the most money and we had great raffle prizes. Money earned for the Hirshberg Foundation totaled $6,500.

In 2011 the 3rd Annual Dal Bon Memorial sparked a revival of enthusiasm. Our most golfers (74) showed up and played. The goodie bag was more filled than ever. Fun might have been at an all-time high. The ball drop, poker holes, mulligans, and great raffle prizes helped make the Hirshberg Foundation another $5,500.

2012? 4th Annual. New format. New golf course. New energy. It’s time to dominate pancreatic cancer. Are you in?
