BEAR RIVER LITTLE LEAGUE RESULTS - ATHLETICS VS YANKEES

The Bear River major Athletics called on Nathan Van Patten to the mound on Wednesday evening for their first game of the 2013. Van Patten looked strong from the game's first pitch to the last as he threw a complete game which was good for a 6-0 shutout versus the BR Yankees who were coming off a 3-2 loss to the BR Brewers on Monday.

The Athletics jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against the Yankee starting pitcher Peyton McGovern who was relieved by Brandon Sorenson who went the rest of the way.

The Yankees threatened a few times throughout the game but the Athletics catcher Jacob Rivett cut down the runners as they attempted to advance. The battery of Van Patten and Rivett were just to much for the Yankees as they fall to 0-2.

Damien Christen brought A's fans to their feet when he drove a Sorenson fastball to the center field fence, which just missed going over by a couple of feet.

Bear River's Major division could have a new front runner in the Athletics (1-0) as they blanked the Yankees 6-0 where the BR Brewers (2-0) dropped the very same team by a score of 3-2.

There will be a lot more clarity for the South county league on Thursday evening as the Brewers take on the BR Tigers (0-1) at 6 p.m.

Minors

The BR Giants dropped the BR Athletics in a late game come back.
