BEAR RIVER LITTLE LEAGUE 5/10/12

MAJORS

The Bear River Angels found themselves in a pitchers duel early in the contest but cruised to a 15-0 win over the BR Dodgers on Thursday evening. The battle between pitchers David Fenton for the Angels and Bradley Dzioba for the Dodgers ended in the top of the third when the Angels scored six, including a three run shot over the left field fence by Ryan Solomon. Josiah Cegar relieved for Dzioba and he was followed by Elliot Bouchier, Seth Robinson, Noah Gravatt and Dillon Scott. Jake Leonard finished strong for the Angels. Hitters for the Angels were Porter Elliott, Ryan Bradford, Leonard and Solomon who had two hits . Solomon's home run took the wind out of the Dodger's sails.

Even though the Dodgers took the loss, they still hold the second and final Bear River Tournament of Champions bid narrowly over the BR Giants by one game.

MINORS

The Bear River Yankees squared off against the BR Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon. The Yankees jumped in front and and held on for a 12-2 victory. Starting pitcher for the Yankees was Colton Jenkins who went one and two thirds with three strikeouts to earn the win. He was followed by Justin Powell who threw one and one third, Michael Carreon came on in relief and gave up two runs followed by Weston Prosser who finished the game for the Yankees. Powell, Ryan Olsen, and Ray Holcomb hit doubles while and Blaynne Rogers went 3 for 3 from the plate. Jenkins, Branden Fowler and Brekyn Vasquez also hit singles for the Yankees. There was a double play executed by Powell who fielded a bases loaded ground ball, tagged third base and proceeded to throw the ball to Carreon at second base in the third inning with no outs.
