BEAR RIVER TIGERS AND YANKEES FALL AT NEVADA CITY AND ATHLETICS ROLLING

On Wednesday night Dean Hopper of the Bear River Tigers and Carter (not sure of last name) from the Nevada City Red Sox battled in what could be classified as a pitchers duel. Hopper went 3 innings striking out 7 while allowing no earned runs where as Carter struck out 9 in five solid innings of work to earn the win in the 5-3 victory.
One run in the top of the second helped the Bear River close their deficit to 2-1. A solo home run by Ryan fueled the Bear River LL Major Tigers' comeback. Carter ended the inning by getting Brekyn Vasquez to fly out to deep center field.
The NC Red Sox added two more runs in the bottom of the third. A steal of home scored Dustin Thompson who was the only player on either team to get two hits on the night for the inning's first run.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fourth, the Bear River faced just a 4-3 deficit. An RBI triple by Hopper and a steal of home sparked the Tigers' rally. But, Carter got Bradford to strike out to end the inning.
Bear River made things interesting in the top of the sixth when they got two runners aboard one of which was a single by Brennan Schad but Jeremy Nevada City's relief pitcher struck out the next three batters to end the very competitive contest.

IN OTHER ACTION
The Nevada City Angels dropped the Bear River Yankees 7-1 behind an 87 pitch complete game by Jean Luc who fanned 9 Bear River batters.
The Bear River Athletics keep rolling as they defeated the Penn Valley White Sox 4-1 behind solid pitching by Reid Zoldan.
