BEAR RIVER FALLS IN SECOND ROUND


Bear River's 9/10 All-Star team was coming off a dominate Monday night 11-1 victory over Tri-City's All-Star team but one day later Rocklin was able to quiet BR's hot bats giving up only 4 hits in their 10-3 victory in second round action.

Bear River fell behind in the first frame when Rocklin's first baseman, Deluccha delivered a towering home run into the pine trees in center field for a 1-0 lead. The lead which they never gave up in the 6 inning game.

Brennan Schad drove a fastball into left field in the top of the second but BR failed to bring him home. Rocklin moved the score to 3-0 in the bottom of the inning on a couple of singles. Mathew Sandstadt was called to the bump with the bases loaded with one out when Rocklin hit two ground ball which got the reliever out of the inning with the score 5-0.

Bear River answered in the top of the 4th by loading the bases with one out when the next two batters struckout. In the bottom half Sandstadt gives up one run on a triple followed by an error and a double which moved the score to 6-0.

Sandstadt hammered a double off the wall with runners on second and third moving the score to 6-2 followed by a walk and a wild pitch scoring Sandstadt trailing 6-3 with no out. Bear River hit into a doule play after Cole Winter walked followed by a BR strikeout.

Colby Lundsford was called to the hill after BR gave up a single along with a few errors which extended Rocklin's lead to 10-3. Lundsford pitched out of the late game jam.

Bear River went 3-up and 3-down to end the game.

BR 3 up 3 down in 6th.
